Founding Partner, Barrios & Machado, LLP
Ursula G. Barrios is known by her colleagues as a brilliant lawyer.
As an attorney and a person, Ms. Barrios is a diamond in the rough. Her upright reputation comes from tenaciously, skillfully, and relentlessly advocating for Southern Californians seeking to rebuild their personal and financial lives. It was with this drive that she built a successful practice straight out of law school, and eventually established Barrios & Machado, LLP with Attorney Guillermo Machado.
Ms. Barrios takes on an uncompromising approach when handling personal injury cases. She wants each client to be compensated for the totality of their loss, to be made "whole" again. Her experience in dealing with insurance companies and aggressive law firms during litigation gives her the advantage when negotiating for her clients’ benefit.
Ms. Barrios is ready to help you. Reach out to her if you have a personal injury concern such as a car accident, dog bite, slip-and-fall injury, elder abuse injury, and the like; or if you are considering bankruptcy.
Background
Ms. Barrios has a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the University of California at Irvine, and a master’s degree in Public Health from Loma Linda University. In 2004, she earned the Dean’s Scholarship Award at Trinity Law & Graduate School, and consistently held the award until she earned her Juris Doctorate in 2007.
As soon as she was admitted to practice law in 2008, Ms. Barrios opened her own law office in Los Angeles. She quickly became popular among clients needing bankruptcy help, so much so that within a year, she had represented nearly 500 clients (in and out of all types of court proceedings). A rare feat for a newly minted attorney, but Ms. Barrios far exceeded her clients’ expectations. By 2009, she branched out to Orange County, where she gained similar success.
In the spring of 2010, Ms. Barrios’ future husband, Attorney Guillermo Machado, joined the law firm, forming Barrios & Machado, LLP.
Ms. Barrios herself started helping more people by broadening her legal practice areas. She has gained an intimate familiarity with the insurance system, enabling her to effectively advocate for the victims of different kinds of injuries. She has personally seen how a single act of negligence can hurt an injured person’s physical, financial, and emotional health. As importantly, how it impacts their family as well.
All of that, combined with her genuine compassion for individuals and families, has earned her the trust and gratefulness of hundreds of Californians.
Ms. Barrios has over 12 years of litigation experience in a healthy variety of legal proceedings, translating to thousands of hours of courtroom knowledge in both Federal and State Courts. She has taken on major banks and won countless battles. She has defended the poor, the widow and the orphan. Ms. Barrios has been described as a champion of the people and her ability to connect with folks from all walks and backgrounds, in both English and Spanish, has proven this true time and time again.
When not at her law firm, Ms. Barrios actively volunteers for her community. Among the numerous organizations she has volunteered for: The Public Law Center in Santa Ana, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Project, Food on Foot, Women in the House and Senate, Loma Linda Veterans Hospital, Republicans for Environmental Protection, and many others.
